NBC Invites You to A Nationwide Office Party on Sept. 25th

To celebrate the Sept. 25th premiere of NBC's "The Office," NBC is inviting fans from across the country to hold their own Premiere Parties and watch the first episode of the Emmy Award-winning comedy's fifth season opener. Dunder Mifflin Infinity employees are getting advance notice of these parties, which we expect will happen in cities large and small from coast to coast. The first fifty (50) parties who collect ten (10) or more RSVPs will qualify for special Premiere Packs of official Office goodies shipped to their party from NBC! We will be announcing these parties on The Office message boards next week, but with a slight change: they will have to collect twenty (20) or more RSVPs to qualify for the prize pack.

How can you participate?

1. Create a thread for your real-world city's party in "The Office on TV" forum. State clearly in the thread title "Office Premiere Party: [City Name]". Be sure to state the name of the party organizer, and the time and place where it will be held. REMEMBER: These are for parties in real cities, and not limited to the DMI branch cities.

2. Create a poll within your thread to collect RSVPs. Make sure you have names and email addresses of everyone who has signed up, so you can provide them to DMIHumanResources when required.

3. You are also invited to post on the regular Office message board and link back to your DMI party thread, in order to announce your party to all Office fans from your city, and show them what great parties DMI has to offer. This is entirely optional. If posting on The Office message boards, please do so only here.

4. Once you have the minimum number of RSVPs, send us an email at hr@dundermifflininfinity.com with "Office Premiere Party: [City Name]" in the subject line. Include a link to your party thread (including the poll), and a list of your attendees, the city they live in, and their email addresses. Your attendees must all live in the larger metropolitan area of the city your party is in, or be traveling that day to your party city, in order to qualify for the Premiere Pack.

5. Wait for your party to be confirmed. Once you receive an email confirmation, reply and send us the mailing address of the party organizer so we know where to ship your Premiere Pack.

What is the deadline for qualifying and receiving a Premiere Pack?

You must collect the minimum number of RSVPs and email us with the above required information no later than Thursday, Sept. 11 at 9 AM PT/12 PM ET. Parties which are confirmed must provide their mailing addresses to us no later than 9 AM PT/12 PM ET Monday, Sept. 15th in order that we may ship your Premiere Pack to you in time for Sept. 25th.

What if I'm unable to organize/attend a real-world party and want to have a virtual Premiere Party? Can I still get something from NBC?

All organized parties with ten or more participants (virtual or real world) will receive exclusive online goodies that they can use for their parties. No parties will be left out of the fun. Stay tuned for more details!

What's in the Premiere Pack?

Official Office merchandise, exclusive items you won't see in the NBC Store, and even cooler goodies you'll have to see for yourself!

What should we do during our Premiere Party?

Well, besides watching the Premiere of "The Office," playing Office-related games and having lots of fun with other fans in your area, we would love for each party to create their own Premiere Party Video and photo gallery and post them on the party organizer's profile. Who knows where your party vids and pics might end up!

NOTE: All updates from NBC with regards to this event will be posted here, so check back regularly as more details become available. Thanks and see you all on Sept. 25th!

Sure you can, Stanley. Just post your claim to organize one, and then go get 'em. if you get one together, i'd love to check in with you during our party, with your permission.

The Glider Diner would be a great virtual location.

I found this odd....why do they all have to live in the same area? People can't travel from one city to a neighboring city to attend a premiere?

And what if you plan a party in a town that doesnt quite measure up to having it's own "larger metropolitan area"? Would an area... let's say... "going through the second stop light heading down main street past the old packing plant all the way to the Dairy Queen" be considered a "larger metropolitan area?

Small town folks don't usually have to deal with "metropolitan" areas. Trying to figure out the general rule-of-thumb. Is it.... when you drive out of town in any direction and the street lights stop.... is that the end of what could be considered the "larger metropolitan" area?

Hi, Gracie,

I saw that, and wondered about it. It might be related to the rules that apply when one of their NBC affiliates runs a contest or promotion. Back a few months ago, a few of the NBC stations had an OFFICE promotion/giveaway, and one of the rules was that the entrant had to live in the stations geographical area. That is probably a legalese requirement.

I don't know why that would apply with these parties, unless the premium giveaway packs fall under some prize requirements.

As for the "larger metropolitan area", I would assume that the metro area would be designated as the local NBC affiliates home, or the largest city that would be considered part of that region. That general footprint would denote what towns would be in a larger metro area. So, any town or city would qualify, as long as everyone would live in the larger metro area.

So, since Philly is considered part of an area reffered to as THE DELAWARE VALLEY, as well as the NBC10 coverage area, participants would need to live in that general area.

This may also apply since corporate and NBC will be handling publicity and should be notifying their affiliates that these are going to occur. After all, these are promotional opportunities, and the affliliates would be naturals to join in for the publicity.

Because of your great work on the charity task, you now have some experience in PR contact and arranging promotions. You can use that to set up both co-organizers as well as legitimize that your effort is a vaild and officially sanctioned OFFICE party. I would assume that NBC will give advance knowledge of this event to their affiliates, and that would help us if we choose to approach them.

OLC, have I got this fairly right, my love?

I'm wondering about the geographic thing as well. I'm near the Orlando area, but I have a friend, who is on DMI, and she lives in St. Pete. She'd come here for the party, but would it count since she lives and hour and a half away? She would absolutely come, but I think they would not count her.

What about the virtual party? If each branch decides to have a virtual party, do we start a topic here for that, just like the RL parties, with RSVP poll and everything? I'm just a little bummed because there are not enough people in DMI who live in my immediate area, most are up North Florida or else along the gulf coast. It would be difficult for me to travel two hours on a Thursday night for a party. . Ho hum, I fake work so hard from DMI, but I always miss out on the fun gift packages. Such is my life.

Thanks Mike, I figured it would have to do with publicity of the event. It just seemed to be an odd request. My situation is similar to gosabers, I have employees scattered from Erie to Pittsburgh to Philly, all across Pennsylvania and neighboring states. It would be a shame to think that if someone travels a distance to attend our premiere, they wouldn't be counted. Guess it's just another speed bump to work around... and we're use to those, aren't we!!

well, I can't have a virtual one on DMI, and get a package. I'm still having one, but I'm sure those packages are full of Office goodies. Didn't they say that they are letting DMI know first? So soon NBC, as a whole, will announce it? Maybe I can get a package that way!?

So DMI gets first dibs, and anything left over they give to people not on DMI. Looks that way to me, but I tend to misinterpret things. OLC, help please?

I am confused about the "live in the larger metropolitan area of the city" part of this too.

What would be considered the larger area of the Washington D.C. / Baltimore area? Cuz that is a big area!!

Quote

The Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area is a consolidated metropolitan area consisting of the overlapping labor market region of the cities of Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland. The region includes Central Maryland, Northern Virginia, and two counties in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.

So where do the majority of the people have to live for this to count as an "Official Party" and where would I have to hold it?

I plan on hosting the party in a Maryland suburb (Rockville) which would be considered Central Maryland. I live in Southern Maryland so would my address not even count? Other people will be coming from the "Baltimore" area but still don't live in Central Maryland, or even DC, or Baltimore for that matter. Would they not count either???

Am I wasting my time in planning this thing? Please let me know now.

Another question:

You are also invited to post on the regular Office message board and link back to your DMI party thread, in order to announce your party to all Office fans from your city, and show them what great parties DMI has to offer. This is entirely optional.

Will others be able to access our forum announcement post if they are not DMI employees? Is the general forum open to anyone clicking our link?

UPDATE: I checked the regular OFFICE message boards at NBC where I had placed the invitation under The Scuttlebutt section. I see other's have placed theirs in the same topic. Unfortunately, administrators of the site have moved all our invites out from the front page of "The Scuttlebutt" section to a pinned DMI 2.0 topic under the topic title "Paper Convention". So, all our invites are now buried in a very odd topic with little traffic. So much for getting a head start.

I'm confused a little about this party. Can a virtual party be for our branch...no matter real life geography? Can I just get the nice package please? I've been very good all year OLC. So good in fact, you allowed me to stay on as RM. I am so honored by that, but a nice Office package would be nice too. Just something for you to think about my dear.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Your threads were inadvertently moved in The Office boards because the moderators were not given advance warning of these parties. So they were unsure what to do with them, and their instructions are to merge similar topics. This was in no means done on purpose. The moderators on The Office boards are good at what they do, and we threw them for a loop because of the long weekend heads-up we gave to DMI employees. This has now been sorted out.

If you want to publicize your parties on the regular Office message boards, a new subforum within "Funtivities" has been created here:

http://boards.nbc.co...p?showforum=324

All previously created party topics have been unmerged and moved here. The announcement for the parties has also now been made on The Office message boards, so everyone is in the loop.
