Are you a nerd? Or a geek? Do you love superheroes? Science Fiction? Crunching number? Building things?

Whether you are a nerd/geek, or if you love nerds/geeks, this is the place for you

We can get this going on a few different topics.

1)Who's excited for Wolverine? Hopefully they did a better job than they did with the sub par trilogy.
2)I never watched the original Star Trek, and have only seen a couple of the movies, but the new Star Trek looks amazing. I can't wait to see it.
3)After Half-Blood Prince was bumped from winter to summer, do you think we will find it worth the wait? I found all the movies after Sorcerers Stone to be lacking in all the important details in the book. Let's see if this has improved.
4)Anyone that actually enjoyed the Twilight series can jump in with whatever they want.
5)Come clean if you love nerds

Take you pick for the first topic

I'd like to see the Wolverine movie and the Star Trek movie. My dad was a fan of both the original and the next generation, so I kinda grew up with it.

I'm an Architects Assissant (Not Assissant to the Architect) so I like crunching numbers and building things. Last saturday I was playing with my niece and I found myself playing with the blcoks more than her. LOL

I can't pick just one topic so I'll say a little about a few. Can't wait to see Wolverine and Star Trek. The previews and cast for both movies look amazing. I was bummed that Half-Blood Prince was moved to the summer but I'll see it no matter when it is released. I am a little disappointed that the movies have not been very loyal to the book (especially Prisoner of Azkaban my favorite book of the series) but I'll still go see them.
I do have to come clean, I have a crush on a nerd right now.

We can get this going on a few different topics.

1)Who's excited for Wolverine? Hopefully they did a better job than they did with the sub par trilogy.

from what the preview shows it looks like they put a lot of time into it. I think it will be slow in some parts especially the Silver Fox / James living of in seclusion parts. I think it'll be neat to see a young Scott Summers. ANNNND since he has not yet mastered his sight he will not know that he has met Wolverine before so it might be something in the next X-MEN Emma Frost goes over with him.

2)I never watched the original Star Trek, and have only seen a couple of the movies, but the new Star Trek looks amazing. I can't wait to see it.
I have only seen a few seasons and a few movies but was never a trekie. I am with you the preview looks ahh-mazing. I stopped watching after the Wrath of Kahn. Something about deadly ear wigs. Ever since it came out i still freak out when bugs fly close to my ears

3)After Half-Blood Prince was bumped from winter to summer, do you think we will find it worth the wait? I found all the movies after Sorcerers Stone to be lacking in all the important details in the book. Let's see if this has improved.
I'm not as excited as others i guess. They're all great stories and i enjoy watching them. Being a newer book it seems like there is nothing sacred and i have seen these scenarios and characters before in past adventures.
I read the LOTR series growing up and i am much more excited about the next adventure which is a flashback- the Hobbit.Guillermo del Toro is directing it while Peter Jackson is producing. [side note PJ isn't directing because he had already signed on to direct Rin-Tin-Tin when The Hobbit was announced]

4)Anyone that actually enjoyed the Twilight series can jump in with whatever they want.
Haven't read, or seen Twilight.

5)Come clean if you love nerds

I love being a nerd!

Here's a short list of my geeky loves (in no particular order):
1. Super Heroes. Especially Batman and Iron Man. What can I say, I love billionaire vigilantes!
2. Star Wars (original trilogy) and Star Wars humor. I prefer the Robot Chicken specials to the Family Guy ones, but both are very enjoyable. smile.gif
3. LOST. If you watch it, you understand how nerdy it can get. Plus, one of the up-and-coming characters is a nerd (Yay for Daniel Faraday!).
4. Harry Potter. VERY excited for the 6th movie. I am a way bigger fan of the books, but the trailers for the latest movie look very promising.
5. LEGOS and the LEGO video games. Very awesome and entertaining!

I can't wait for the new Ironman movie. I was a big fan of Ironman when I was a kid reading the comic books. He was different from all the other super heroes and even Batman (even though I really liked the Dark Knight). He f***ing kills his enemies and he likes to party (drinking "problem").

I'd like your opinion on NERDS vs GEEKS. Neither I nor my son consider ourselves nerds - HOWEVER - we will both readily admit to our geekdom. We are into computers, online games (including VR Jobs) and Sci-Fi. We can debate Star Wars, Star Trek (to some lesser degree), Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. We have our own little inside jokes from those games, movies and shows that we share between each other and drive my wife nuts. We can sit at a table and discuss computer and other geek stuff and my wife will just politely sit there and listen knowing that she has no chance once we move into 'geek speek'.

Nerds I see as the math people, marching band and can discuss quatum physics (rather than Quantum Leap) they wear their sport shirts buttoned all the way to the top (I know of a child in the school that I work at that does this and I just want to say "loosen up dude") where we geeks love the wild t-shirts with obscure sayings and jokes that only other geeks get (i.e. "There are only 10 types of people, those who get binary and those who don't.") If you got that joke then you're probably a geek. Nerds tend to more of a loner and they get 'swirleys', 'wedgies' and stuffed into lockers at schools where the geeks often band together, are sought out for the best bootlegged video games or music and can easily screw up your grades by hacking into the schools computers and giving you all f's.

Now this is how I see nerds and geeks. From what I can tell I'd call ttB a prime example of a fem-geek. Fem-geeks are not as rare as fem-nerds so geeks generally do have a social life and, get ready folks, WE BREED! Call me a GEEK but never, ever call me a nerd.

I was in marching band but i am horrible in math. i was in AP government and AP English.- i think that sways a little nerdy. I love computers and technical things as well as my comics and my video games. I quote movies all day long.
so that might fall under your geek category but really you can just call me ttB. 97.5% geekery and 2/15ths nerdy.

I guess I'm mixed but more geeky. Geek stats: I like video games, I quote movie lines everyday, I know quite a bit about the computer and other technical devices, I like wearing those funny t-shirts, and I have also hacked into the school computer to change my grades. Nerd stats: I wasn't in the marching band but now I play many instruments, and I'm good at math. So I'm about 84% Geek and 16% Nerd.

How do you rate yourself?
Geek Vs. Nerd

I'm too lazy to do the math so I guess I'm a Geek. I'm also quite dorky because I act like an idiot at times (no alcohol required).

i was kinda using nerd and geek interchangeably. i'd have to say by your assessment, i'm mostly geek. we have a lot of those same things in common, but i was also in the marching band. it's ok though, we weren't your usual halftime band. and i graduate with a bs in engineering in two weeks, so i do have some nerd in me.

bmd, which is better, sg1 or atlantis?

Hooray for marching band geeks! we were your typical step by step band. I did the mellophone and had the hardest time seeing over the bell. the music was good. I played French horn in Sr band and trumpet in jazz band. I have an associate in graphic design but rarely get to use it.

i played trombone. we were actually a competitive band. and use to be good. my older brother won the national championship when he was in school. the best i did was state and region, but it's all good. my sister was in color guard, and my brother-in-law was drum captain. so i guess were a nerdy family like that.

ttb, i like your 2/15 nerdy

I am very excited to see Half-Blood Prince, I doubt it will be wroth the wait though. I read extensive reviews on it as they did a showing of it here last year in Chicago. It was still a rough draft but major fans got to see it. They said it is pretty spot on, but who knows, that can change at any time.

Guitar, bass guitar, drums, piano, harmonica, and mandolin. I've got a solo band (link below).
I was thinking about playing drums in the marching band in high school.
