Hating On The New Employees

With the start of 3.0 there have been a lot of new employees who obviously don't know their way around and might not have bothered to read the employee manual. A lot of them have started new threads asking questions that many of us have answered several times before or the questions should belong in a thread that already exists.
With that, I've also noticed a high amount of noobie bashing happening. I understand getting frustrated at them for not knowing where to place a thread or asking a question that's already been answered. Hell, I'm even prone to getting annoyed with them, and I've been trying to curb it. But what I don't understand is taking it to a whole different level with insulting and belittling. This started with the launch of 3.0 and has escalated to the point of maliciousness.
The other day a new thread popped up with the same old questions that's been answered before, and Puck answered the new person with such civility, and I thought that it was such a breath of fresh air to not have everyone immediately jumping on the person for maybe not taking the time to read.
What I'm wondering is if there is a prejudice against new employees just because they're new. I'm afraid that a lot of regulars are scaring these new people and turning them off the site or just even the main boards. So, can we just maybe watch what we say and try to be kind during this new phase of DMI?
Sorry to be so serious. I just wanted to get that off my chest.

When we were new at Elizabeth, we had konamouse to guide us through the basics. She was a terrific RM who made every effort to make noobies feel at home and welcome and was available to answer any questions.
But with the RMs inactive, and the noobies having to earn their way into branches, they are left hanging.
Perhaps when the RMs are active again, and there are branches to join, the noobies can get more attention again. The trick will be getting them into the branches to get the help from the RM.
In the meantime, they are in noobie limbo.

I really think the forum patrol should be expanded so that questions can get quickly answered and then just close the thread.
Hugo also brings up another point I've thought about. Usually when someone joins the game, they pick a branch and the RM and some of the more active employees will hit up their comments with helpful tips and basically tell them how to get started, and a lot of those folks would otherwise not really get involved. So I think if the goal is truly to get more people involved in DMI then it would probably be a better idea to allow people to join branches right away, but not have their stats count for a branch until they're out of temp status (at 2000 or however many Sbs)
Basically I think the 2000Sb requirement was a good idea in theory, but probably needs some serious tweaking.
And I think in the future when they think about changing things like that, they'd do well to open polls to get feedback from the people who are actually using this site, ya know?

I think the FP are trying their best with what they have. People can always pm an FP if they really want something moved or changed.
This is sort of a double edged sword, because with the 2,000 sb mark, we want to weed out the non-actives, but then again we want more people to be involved straight away. Over all, I do prefer the 2,000 mark way from the point of view of an RM.
Polls would be an interesting idea, but I think they went with the 2,000 thing based off of suggestions from last year. We had been wanting a way to get rid of clones and one-timers.

There will always be people who don't read the manual, that's a given. But there's definitely no need to call them an idiot just because they don't. There are better ways of telling them to read before posting.
