OK, so I'm Hampton's new ARM. The only way someone may know this is to see it on the stats page. My job title has not changed on my employee profile, my desk has not changed, there are no extra or special things that I am able to do to assist with the running of my branch. I did submit our branch's task 3.11 Employee of the Month, but I think anyone could have really done that. I think at the very least, all ARM's should have their employee profile show the new job title and their desk environment should reflect their new position. Maybe that was the DMI plan for the new ARM's, but the summer intern running the entire Dunder Mifflin Infinity website got distracted watching the new season of Jersey Shore on his iPhone and forgot about it all together.

Your desk and job title shouldn't change. They only change when you reach the amount of SBs it takes to become an ARM, which I think is 10,000.

ARM's do not come with a lot of power.

I believe they are allowed to pick Employee of the Week/Month, submit tasks, and approve transfers.

The only way to receive an immediate Desk/Job Title change is if you became a Regional Manager.

I am fairly certain that my ARM has the ability to do all the things I can do in the Manager Private area, there are no other special things we have that an ARM wouldn't.

If you mean the desk items, well I can't even access them, they are grey to me.

For me I am an RM because I wanted to be more involved in my branch, the desk and "special things" (which I am uncertain what they are), don't actually matter to me, it is the people in the branch that I log on for each day and it is they who I want to ensure are having fun, the desk and stuff are just incidentals.

To me, I think the most important feature of the ARM is as a back up if the RM goes on vacation or has another RL situation where they can't do their virtual duties, the ARM is already in place and able to do them without the delay of going thru OLC. Or even more drastically if something happens and the RM is just gone, the branch isn't left hanging, waiting to figure out what's going on, waiting for someone to organize, with an ARM someone is there, able to perform all the branch duties and keep things going along smoothly.

The ARM's don't have access to the RM forum or Branch Forum moderating capabilities.

Oh, I'm RM of Beaumont - Shout out to my ARM, pandj! Woot! She's awesome!

I am the ARM in Spokane, and have been since about halfway through last year. You have access to the Private Manager section in your branch's profile and can help your RM with various tasks there, but aside from that, being there to support your RM and do anything they need from you is pretty much all ARM means. You have to get 10,000 SBs to get your ARM status on your profile and get the ARM desk and desk item option. Just like the original ARM (Dwight), you still keep your working status with no extra pay. Although my RM made me a super cool ARM signature! :)

I've been fighting since the beginning of 3.0 to at least have my ARM be able to see the RM forum as Read-Only, just in case I need to go on vacation and she needs to see any updates. I think it would be nice if ARMs could have a title on their profile. If they're going to be listed in the stats as ARM, then it needs to go on the profile too.

When the ARM opportunity was announced, I jumped at the chance.

Maybe you took the position for the wrong reasons if you just wanted these extra things, I believe the ARM position to be as Bam stated - back-up to the RM if they can't get on and for support around the branch.

The ARM position has been around since DMI2 (I wasn't here for DMI1 so can't say) - this position is exactly the same as last year except they can now award EOTW / EOTM.

My ARM, the wonderful Karlajo, has been a big support to me in DMI3 especially when I went away at Christmas - I would be lost without her, thanks Karla

The official ARM was started in 2.0 when the transfers had to be approved & we had a branch task that required a RM to submit on behalf of the whole branch. Those branches without active RMs were left in the lurch so the active RMs begged Corporate for a fix. This has been a lifesaver for many branches.

When I'm aftkb (last year I was "commuting from Iraq) the most-terrific Elizabeth ARM, LaurenAct513, gets everything done. Thank ghod for Lauren, else we would have missed out on the branch task this seasin.

This year they are listed in the DMI stats. They cannot put it in the profile page b/c that promotion position was set up long before the actual working job was created. FYI, the ARM can be removed by the RM (it's not guarenteed permanent).

From your prior posts... I think what Feef said about you taking the ARM position solely for the perks is a fair statement. Because that's how I interpreted them as well.

What your RM should have told you from the get-go were the abilities you'd have as an ARM, which are very limited. But don't feel like you can't do anything, the difference between the RM abilities, and the ARM abilities is that RMs can go into the RM forum. That's all.

If you remember from 1.0 and 2.0, every employee had the opportunity to achieve the 'Assistant Regional Manager' title and the 'Assistant Regional Manager' desk. The same goes with 3.0. The Employee Manual confirms this.

When I took the ARM position in Omaha, I didn't think there would be anything extra other than the ability to submit team tasks or save the office from sudden catastrophe should bhartz be lost in the cornfields at such a time.

I was extremely surprised when I found the private manager button and saw that there were actual abilities that came with the title.

I don't need a fancy desk or title on my profile. My wonderful co-workers know what I do. They supported bhartz's decision and some even suggested me for it.

I have to agree that it would be really helpful if we could at least be on a read only level of the managers forum so we could keep up to date on what's going on should our RMs not be available as Jade suggested.

But all in all I'm in the position to back bhartz up if he needs me and I'm still going to be there for him if he doesn't need me.

He knows where to find me. I'm the one watering the fake plants. :)

Bottom line: I made a suggestion for a game. That doesn't mean that I don't really like my branch or I'm a selfish person. It does mean that I think the pretend position of ARM would be better if the pretend title & pretend desk went with it.

Oh the joys of communicating in a forum!

I would be happy if my ARM had a little something extra for stepping up.

You're right. You made a suggestion for something that maybe some of us didn't think about or weren't expecting. That doesn't make you a selfish person or mean that you don't care about your branch. You're just looking at it differently and that's okay. :)

Well... it's not as if she's looking out for her branch by asking for a desk...

.

.

BUT- If you are looking for a new desk/title change, I think there are 10+ branches looking for a Regional Manager.

No. ARMs shouldn't get new desks. Like BBB said, if you want a different desk, then become an RM. If corporate starts doing that, then ARMs should be voted in just like the RMs are.

If we're mimicking "The Office" then the ARM at the Scranton Branch is still a salesman, and has that desk out in the big office area.

It's awesome you are a great support for your branch. Keep it up and enjoy the fun. No need to resort to name calling.

No one cares what I think, I don't care what you think. I definitely do not want to be RM, my RM is the best ever! I am just the ARM for my branch and my branch (also the best ever) did happen to vote me in. I think it would be nice if the desk & title came with the pretend job. Suck it!

1) Don't be rude. Someone who is or wants to be in a semi respectable and responsible position, in life, or even in this dumb place should show some form of respect to others especially when they really didn't badger you like other instances.

2) Why would a desk come with it? If you paid attention to the show, Jim never had an office, or a different desk - yet he was second in command. Why is that? He's just responsible when the actual RM is not there.

The fact that you wanted to become an ARM without knowing what you would have to do, where you would find it, and expected superficial things out of it kind of shows that you probably shouldn't be in an actual position of rank...

Also, to your previous post, your RM should have told you about being ARM. It's nothing special. Normally when they go on a leave of absence they will say "this person is in charge while I'm gone". It's nice to suggest things, but don't expect them nor attack others in defense of being told otherwise.

"I want to live on the sun"
"Sorry sir, that's not possible"
"But i want to, so buzz off"

Take it easy.

Quit looking for a free hand out.

You are currently the only ARM whining about not having a desk and title in the profile. If you haven't noticed.
